School-Age Programs (Ages 5-21)

The Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU) provides school-age services to students in collaboration with the member school districts and charter schools. Through a contracting and referral process, the CAIU offers Classroom Placement Services and Itinerant and Consultative Services. Additionally, the CAIU provides services to families, schools, and districts in the areas of aid to non-public schools and English as a Second Language.

Families that are interested in CAIU services for their school-aged child(ren) should contact their home school district for more information regarding the CAIU referral process.

Referral Information

Districts and charter schools interested in requesting services should complete the appropriate referral form. Additional information regarding the process for submitting a referral can be found in the central referral packet.
