The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts aims to strengthen Pennsylvania's communities' cultural, educational, and economic vitality through the arts. The Capital Area Intermediate Unit is a Pennsylvania Partner and oversees this mission in Dauphin, Cumberland, and Lebanon counties.
Artist residencies place rostered teaching artists in schools, educational institutions, communities, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses. Each residency varies in length, with a five-day minimum, and is specifically designed for the unique individuals it serves. Teaching artists help participants explore and develop their creativity and artistic skills during this time. Residencies are developed collaboratively between the artist and the host organization. Planning is conducted well before the beginning of the residency, allowing ample time for both the artist and residency host to make necessary arrangements.
Artist residencies in schools are tailored to align with the teachers' and students' specific curricular needs, including specific themes or areas of study.
How to Host an Artist Residency
Fill out an Artist Residency Interest Form.
Once your Interest Form has been received, the Special Projects Coordinator will reach out to discuss the residency and share a Residency Request form for you to complete.
Fill out and submit the Request Form at AIE@caiu.org.
Once your form has been received, the Special Projects Coordinator will reach out to coordinate a meeting with you, the artist, and the Special Projects Coordinator.
Host the residency.
Before the residency concludes, submit the PCA Residency Survey.
