The CAPT program is unique in its ability to provide multiple pathways to a teaching degree. For people with a high school diploma to people with a bachelor’s degree but no teaching certification, there is a pathway to certification and a career in education. Explore the pathways below to learn more.
Pathways
The degrees available through the CAPT Program are offered by various accredited institutions of higher education (IHEs) located in different states. All of the IHEs are part of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), which is an agreement among member states, districts and territories that establishes comparable national standards for interstate offerings of postsecondary distance education courses and programs. It is intended to make it easier for students to take online courses offered by postsecondary institutions based in another state. However, please note that NC-SARA does not cover professional licensure or certification. Eligibility for licensure and/or certification involves more than successful degree completion. Please refer to the PA Department of Education's website regarding teacher certification to confirm the additional requirements for certification, which may vary depending upon the IHE that issues your degree.
