Belonging & Dignity

A Commitment to Belonging Through a Culture of Dignity

At the CAIU, we are actively defining how we can elevate our consciousness around a belonging- and dignity-centered culture, where we can focus on the vulnerability of individual people and social groups, and create an environment in which we demonstrate the care and attention we deserve, and ensure all people feel that they matter.

Belonging

Belonging is the extent to which we feel personally appreciated, validated, accepted, and treated fairly within a particular environment. It speaks to being respected at a basic level, and the right to co-create.

Dignity

Dignity is the innate and equal worth of all human beings, and the state of peace that comes with the recognition and acceptance of the value of all living things. Honoring dignity is fundamental to the workplace culture we stand for as an organization.

Equity

Equity is the recognition that everyone has different needs, ensuring that everyone has access to the same treatment, opportunities, and growth.

Inclusion

Inclusion is engagement and empowerment, where the worth and dignity of all people are realized. Inclusive organizations promote a sense of belonging.

Justice

Justice is the repairing and restoring of individuals harmed by a violation of dignity.
