American National Biographies & Other Biography

American National Biography--just happens to be one of the best sources of biographical information on just about anyone in U.S. history you can think of.  The Catch?  It's $89/year.  Pressure your librarian to subscribe to this wonderful service.

GENERAL SITES FOR U.S. HISTORY

The History Channel -you can thank A&E for this TV programming and decent search engine.  With 500 channels and nothing to watch, The History Channel ALWAYS has something to watch.

The Learning Page- This site provides a plethora of stories and resources about exploration of America for both teachers and students.

METASITES FOR U.S. HISTORY

The Digital Librarian HOLY COW!  What a metasite!  Provides links to hundreds of American History websites and is nearly overwhelming!  Check this out!

You may want to try the very accomplished site at Tennessee Tech.  Very impressive!  Just click here.

The U.S. Resources of the Internet Public Library are most impressive in multimedia resources.  Maintained by the University of Michigan School of Information, this site is worth your while.

The Rutgers University Libraries have some very good resources concerning American and British history.  Some are quite scholarly and specialized, so preview for and with your students.

Academic Info presents a good subject directory for U.S. History but will continue to ask you for a contribution.  Rich resources here.
