The Student Services Team provides expertise and leadership in the development, coordination, and delivery of a diverse array of quality educational services and programs.
Many of the Team’s activities focus on providing special education for preschool and school age children with disabilities, whose needs are met through early intervention, district and IU-based classes, and itinerant instructional support services. Educational consultants provide case management for the special education process, technical assistance, and staff development.
The Team also provides other services to meet the educational and developmental needs of families and individuals, from birth throughout adult life. The CAIU provides services to families, schools and districts in the areas of Aid to Non-Public Schools, Capital Area Adventures, the Capital Area School for the Arts, Driver Education, and English as a Second Language. The Student Services Team also provides assessment and direct services in many areas, including speech and language, psychological, occupational and physical therapy, psychiatric, vocational, audiological, assistive technology, augmentative communication, functional vision, and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
