PA-Educator.net is a “statewide, one-stop clearinghouse for educators.” It allows college Education majors and practicing teachers who are seeking teaching positions in Pennsylvania to apply on-line by completing an electronic version of the Standard Application for Teaching Positions in Pennsylvania Public Schools. Participating school districts can then search the PA-Educator site for applicants who meet their criteria. The benefit to applicants is that they only need to complete one set of hiring materials (application, clearances, etc.), rather than one for each district. PA-Educator allows the districts, schools, and/or intermediate units to search by several criteria, enabling them to find the precise set of skills they are seeking; so, rather than scanning applicants that may not have the right experience, the school can select to see only those applicants that match their needs, greatly reducing the time required for candidate screening.
