Application Process

Internal Applicants (those already employed by the CAIU) should send notice to the Director of Human Resources stating his/her interest, posting number of the position, and updated resume which includes references and qualifications for the position.

External Applicants (those not currently employed by the CAIU) must submit a complete application package in order to be considered for a position. Items to be included are listed below:

Non-Certified position, including day-to-day substitute (i.e. EPP/PCA, Sign Language Interpreters, etc.) applications must include:

  • A completed employment application
  • Cover letter
  • Current Act 34 Clearance (PA Criminal Background Check) or proof of application thereof
  • Current Act 151 Clearance (Child Abuse Clearance) or proof of application thereof
  • Current Act 114 Clearance (Federal Fingerprinting) or proof of application thereof
  • A current medical examination and TB test as required by the Pennsylvania School Code

Professional (i.e. teachers, educational consultants, speech/language clinicians, etc.), Licensed Staff (i.e. OT/PT's, social workers) and Administrative (Act 93) application packages must include:

  • A completed employment application
  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Current Act 34 Clearance (PA Criminal Background Check) or proof of application thereof
  • Current Act 151 Clearance (Child Abuse Clearance) or proof of application thereof
  • Current Act 114 Clearance (Federal Fingerprinting) or proof of application thereof
  • A current medical examination and TB test as required by the Pennsylvania School Code
  • Three (3) professional letters of reference
  • Copy of relevant certificate*
  • Copy of Praxis scores*
  • Copy of college transcripts*

Support Staff (i.e. secretaries, custodians, receptionist, etc.) and Administrative Support Staff (i.e. administrative assistants, technology, services staff, etc.)

Application packages must include:

  • A completed employment application
  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Current Act 34 Clearance (PA Criminal Background Check) or proof of application thereof
  • Current Act 151 Clearance (Child Abuse Clearance) or proof of application thereof
  • Current Act 114 Clearance (Federal Fingerprinting) or proof of application thereof
  • A current medical examination and TB test as required by the Pennsylvania School Code 
  • Copy of college transcripts* (if applicable)

*Originals will be required at the time of hire

Required Clearances

Act 34 Clearances (PA Criminal Background Check) can be obtained at the Pennsylvania Access To Criminal History website.

Act 114 Clearances (Federal Fingerprinting) can be obtained at the Cogent Systems website.

Act 151 Clearance (Pennsylvania Child Abuse History) forms and information can be obtained at the PA Department of Public Welfare website.
