Policy

Application Process
Internal Applicants (those already employed by the CAIU) should send notice to the Director of Human Resources stating his/her interest, posting number of the position, and updated resume which includes references and qualifications for the position.
External Applicants (those not currently employed by the CAIU) must submit a complete application package in order to be considered for a position. Items to be included are listed below:
ALL EXTERNAL APPLICANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT THE FOLLOWING "ORIGINAL" CLEARANCES IF HIRED (All clearances must be dated no later than one year prior to hire).
PLEASE NOTE CHANGES IN THE ACT 114 CLEARANCE (FBI FINGERPRINTING)
Current Act 114 Clearance (Federal Fingerprinting) or proof of application thereof*. Please click on the link below for information on the new process for online access of Federal Criminal History Background Check effective December 1, 2008. YOU MUST OBTAIN AN FBI CLEARANCE UNDER THE PA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. NO OTHER FBI CLEARANCE WILL BE ACCEPTED. DO NOT CLICK THE "PA DEPT OF PUBLIC WELFARE" or "PA DEPT OF BANKING". Non-Certified Positions:
These positions include day-to-day substitutes, EPP/PCA, Non-degreed Sign Language Interpreters, etc. Applications must include:
- A completed employment application
- Cover letter
- A current medical examination and TB test as required by the Pennsylvania School Code (Will be required if hired)
Effective October 1, 2008: All individuals hired for a paraprofessional (EPP/PCA) position must meet the following qualifications:
1.) Must be certified as a Highly Qualified Educational Paraprofessional OR have the ability and willingness to become a Highly Qualified Educational Paraprofessional.
2.) Must be trained in CPR, First Aid, and a certified de-escation method, as prescribed by the CAIU, and willing and able to utilize these procedures OR have the ability and willingness to become trained in CPR, First Aid, and a certified de-escation method, as prescribed by the CAIU, and be willing and able to administer these procedures.
3.) Must have the ability to lift/assist with lifting special needs children.
Other qualifications may vary depending upon the individual assignment.
Professional Applicants:
This includes professionally certified individuals such as teachers, educational consultants, speech/language clinicians, school psychologists, etc.; Licensed Staff such as OT/PT's and social workers and degreed sign language interpeters; Administrative such as Act 93 supervisors. Application packages must include:
- A completed employment application
- Cover letter
- Resume
- A current medical examination and TB test as required by the Pennsylvania School Code (Required if hired)
- Three (3) professional letters of reference
- Copy of relevant certificate or license*
- Copy of Praxis scores*
- Copy of college transcripts*
Support Staff
This includes secretaries, custodians, receptionist, general office staff, etc. and Administrative Support Staff such as administrative assistants, technology services staff, etc
Application packages must include:
- A completed employment application
- Cover letter
- Resume
- A current medical examination and TB test as required by the Pennsylvania School Code (Required if hired)
- Copy of college transcripts* (if applicable)
*Originals will be required at the time of hire
